Most
schools allow you to pay for your flight training on a "pay
as you go" basis, in which payment is due upon completion
of each flight or ground school lesson. Some schools offer
financing, and others have partnerships with select financial
institutions that provide loans for flight training to eligible
students. If you are interested in taking out a loan, read
the Alternative
Loan section.
Some schools also offer "block-time"
prices, in which you pay in advance (pre-pay) for a certain
amount of flight time. This can often offer substantial
savings. You might be tempted to put down a lump sum of
your hard earned money with a flight school offering you
savings based on " Block-time". However, there
have been situations in which students arrived for their
lesson only to find the school closed - out of business
- and they were not able to receive a refund. This is a
very rare situation, but it has and can happen. If you decide
to choose this method, you should be very familiar with
the school’s refund policy.
