Volunteer - Make A Difference
Volunteering your time is an excellent opportunity to become
a well-rounded individual, improve your chances of winning
a scholarship, and enlighten your life. Remember, most scholarship
sponsors look for students who are involved in their community,
outside activities, and have good grades. Some volunteer organizations
oalso ffer scholarships.
Public Officials
Your state’s representatives, mayor, governor, or other
public officials in your community and city may offer scholarships
to students continuing their education. Public officials usually
have an office that handle their normal business affairs,
contact each official in your state, city, or community. Their
telephone numbers are listed in the Yellow Pages within the
Government section. Normally, you will speak with their receptionist.
Ask the receptionist, if the public official (state the official’s
name) offer scholarships for students or know of associates
who sponsor students continuing their education. You should
visit the web site of your state, city, and county government,
scholarship information may be posted somewhere on their web
site. Remember, the government is a networking community and
there is always someone who knows someone. So network!
