Most scholarship providers request supporting documents to
accompany your completed scholarship application. Supporting
documents give the scholarship committee a “3 Dimensional
Picture” of you. These document can tell the committee
more about you than your answers on the application.
In many cases, supporting documents have been the deciding
factor as to who will win the award. This is your opportunity
to sell yourself and show the committee that you are the most
deserving candidate for their scholarship.
There are various types of supporting documents such as:
• Academic
Transcript
• Official
SAT or ACT Test Score(s)
• Essay /
Personal Statement
• Scholarship
Resume
• Letter
of Recommendation Letters
• References
• Samples
of Artwork or Performances
• Auditions
• Photograph
• Copy
of Federal Income Tax Information
In order to save time, you should begin preparing and gathering
some of these documents before the application arrives. Once,
you have this information, it is wise to keep all of your
documents in an oversized envelope or folder to keep them
clean and neat. Remember - first impressions are a lasting
impression. So be CLEAN and NEAT! The importance of planning
ahead cannot be overstressed.
